Candlelight Concerts Successfully Make Their Jakarta Debut

The globally renowned Candlelight Concert series has officially completed its first Jakarta run, bringing its signature candlelit performances to the city from 31 January to 13 February 2026. Produced by Fever, the series transformed two distinct venues, GPIB Immanuel Jakarta and Soehanna Hall, into intimate stages glowing with thousands of candles.

The Opening at GPIB Immanuel Jakarta

The Jakarta series began on 31 January 2026 at GPIB Immanuel Jakarta. The historic church became the first Indonesian venue to host the immersive format, presenting themed performances that ranged from K Pop tributes to Queen and ABBA reinterpretations.

The architecture and natural acoustics of the church created a dramatic and resonant atmosphere, allowing audiences to experience familiar songs in a setting that felt both grand and intimate. As the first stop of the Jakarta run, GPIB set the tone for what would become a widely anticipated cultural moment.

The Final Evenings at Soehanna Hall

The program continued in mid February at Soehanna Hall in SCBD, where performances were held on 12 and 13 February 2026. These evenings featured tributes to The Beatles and Hans Zimmer, followed by Vivaldi’s Four Seasons and a Valentine’s themed program that closed the series on 13 February.

Compared to the church setting, Soehanna Hall offered a modern and acoustically refined environment. The contrast between heritage architecture and contemporary design gave Jakarta audiences two distinct interpretations of the Candlelight experience within the same series.

A Diverse Musical Journey

Throughout the run, the repertoire moved seamlessly between classical masters such as Mozart, Chopin, and Vivaldi, and contemporary icons including Queen, ABBA, Coldplay, and Ed Sheeran. Performed by local ensembles in approximately one hour programs, each concert was designed to make classical instrumentation approachable for broader audiences.

The limited seating layout and candlelit staging created a sense of closeness between performers and guests, encouraging attentive listening in an atmosphere that felt both immersive and accessible.

Looking Ahead for Next Concerts

With the 13 February 2026 performance marking the conclusion of the inaugural Jakarta run, the strong response signals promising growth for this format in the city’s live entertainment landscape. Additional Candlelight concerts are already scheduled to return to Jakarta at Soehanna Hall in the coming months.
